Ellie O’Hern is a Parsons Educated Fashion Designer with an emphasis in knitwear. Her designs are influenced by classic craftsmanship, nostalgia, and modern materials and methods.
As a craftsman she pays great respect to the “rules” of knit. She does complete finishing on garments, never calls something ‘deconstructed’ when in reality it is messed up beyond repair, and recognizes there is a proper way to knit and the books in her studio with centuries of knitting knowledge are not just for show. But, as a contemporary artist she is am continually at a crossroads of challenging tradition, yet respecting the craft. Her work reflects this.
